Tips for walking in high heels

High heels are the perfect confidence builder. High heels make you instantly taller, your legs look leaner, high heels make almost any outfit look sexier, and they put your butt up on a pedestal where it belongs.  Some women may be intimidated by high heels and are afraid that trying to walk in a pair of heels might result in them tripping or falling over. With just a few basic pointers and a little bit of practice, any girl can strut around in her favorite mini skirt.

A few things to look for when picking out a great pair of high heels are fit, heel length and width, and straps and support.

1. A good heel length to start with is three inches. This is high enough to make your legs look long and sexy but low enough for a beginner to feel comfortable enough to walk with confidence.

2. The narrower the high heel the more balance that is required. If you are new to high heels try picking a shoe with a wider heel to start.

3. Try starting with a pump or a high heel shoe with an ankle strap. These high heel shoes will be more supportive for your ankles. Mary Jane style heels are another supportive style of high heel shoe that are cute and sexy.

4. The most important thing to keep in mind is to choose a high heel shoe that makes you feel sexy, whether it be Mary Jane’s, a classic pump, a wedge, stilettos, opened toe, or a shoe with ankle straps, choose what looks best on you.

Walking gracefully in high heels requires confidence. You can’t be looking down out at your feet in fear of a misstep. Hold your head high, strengthen your back, and look strait ahead at where you are going. Here are a few basic rules to remember when walking in high heels.

1. First just practice standing in your new high heels in front of a full length mirror. Turn slightly to each side and check out your new sexy profile. This is the time to monitor your posture, shoulders back, chest out, head held high, and spine strait. Your walk will be balanced once your posture is set.

2.  Go for a quick walk around the room in your high heels. Try walking on a firm surface first. Thick carpet can through you off balance.

3. When walking in high heels remember to keep your toes pointed out in front of you. Imagine there is a straight line set out in front of you, cross each foot over the line with each step, right over left, left over right.

4. Don’t put your whole foot down at once when walking in high heels, your not wearing comfy sneakers. First place down your heel and then your toe, heel to toe, not toe to heel. This will give you more stability when walking and help you to remember to balance your weight on your toes and not your heels.

5. Swing your arms as you walk in high heels to keep your balance and sway your hips into each step. You’ll look like a confident runway model and be stable and balanced.

6. Be sure to step precisely when walking on a staircase. Hold onto the rail and step firmly with your entire shoe. Both the heel and toe should land squarely with each step.

7. Practice, practice, practice! If you plan on dancing in your high heels, practice steping from side to side as well as turning slowly on your toe. With enough practice any length high heel shoe is possible. Just work your way up slowly from a three inch heel to a five inch heel. Who knows? Maybe you’ll gain enough confidence for a six, seven or even eight inch heel.

Remember to walk with confidence, imagine you are the Queen of the Nile or a sexy runway model. Keep a solid posture and hold your head high. Every girl should own a pair of fabulous high heel shoes. High heels are the perfect fashion must-have. A great pair of shoes adds a bit of sexiness and style to any outfit.
